The fast Subaru wagon Australia never got in this form. The third-generation Legacy Touring Wagon GT-B was Japan's answer to the family car that could keep up with a WRX: the EJ20 boxer with sequential twin turbos — a small one for low-down response, a second joining higher up — through full-time all-wheel drive, with Bilstein suspension, in a wagon with a proper load floor. This is a July 1998 car, one of the first months of the BH5, and it has only just come within reach of the 25-year rule. A family wagon with a sleeper's engine, or the JDM Subaru that carries a bike, a dog and a boot of gear.
