The Japanese-market STI, which is a different car from the Australian one. Where Australia's GRB STI had the 2.5-litre EJ257, Japan kept the 2.0-litre EJ207 — a twin-scroll turbo flat-four that revs to 8,000 rpm and makes 227 kW and 422 Nm — behind a six-speed manual with the driver-controlled centre differential, SI-Drive and Brembo brakes. This one has been set up by its Japanese owner the way the STI crowd does it: Recaro seats, an HKS exhaust, Cusco coilovers, a Personal steering wheel and a Razo gear knob, over the STI front lip and large rear spoiler. Complied and on the register, with a spare key. The wide-body hatch that ended the Impreza STI line, with the engine the export markets never got.
